An important place in Breton culture, life in Landerneau flows happily along the river Élorn. Without shouting about it, you could say that a pub called Le Keltia might just put its Celtic oar into the peaceful order of things.
According to legend, every time a prisoner escaped from Brest prison, a cannon shot was fired to alert the surrounding area. It could be heard as far away as Landerneau, hence the expression, ‘be heard in Landerneau’. At Le Keltia, they prefer freedom, but they’ve kept the cannons! With a range of whisky varieties to turn the Loch Ness monster green with envy, the customers are clearly spoilt for choice. The pub is also a beer-lover’s paradise, a perfect place to hide away from the sea mists. A meeting place for Landerneau regulars, the concert bar also takes advantage of the summer to organise fest-deiz (afternoons of Breton dancing and merry-making), every Sunday afternoon. In other words, a popular place of Celtic culture, melting into the magnificent backdrop of the Pont de Rohan. Long may they continue to be heard!
