This swinging celebration has been taking place for about thirty years now, in the Bourbriac area. Around the middle of August, everyone heads to Le Danouët for the Plinn festival. The event is a down to earth affair in a wonderful location: it's a fantastic remedy for anyone feeling down.
In Le Danouët you'll find a big village square, a chapel with its ornamental calvary cross, chestnut trees and ancient oaks, a village hall and some boules pitches. So far, so good. But if, on 15 August, on a visit to this delightful part of central Brittany, you happen to hear what sounds like an air-raid siren, don't worry - it's the sound of Breton bagpipes, and you're in luck because it means Le Danouët's Plinn festival is in full swing. With competitions for pipers, singers and clarinet players, the whole place vibrates to the beat of popular Breton culture. And although the festival is named after a traditional local dance, it's also open to other art forms. From folk-dancing to feasting, the Plinn du Danouët festival excites all the senses. So take your partners, ladies and gents!
