Bob Dylan

Fight for peace

Picture 1 Bob Dylan

Make love not war! At 70 and a bit, Bob Dylan is still going full on. The stone is still rolling and people in Carhaix will need no coaxing to get together at the Vieilles Charrues Festival for one of the shows of the century. Just that!

Draw yourself a picture: it’s as if, in mid-summer 2012, Bob Marley was asking you to stand up for your rights, Jim Morrison announcing the End or Jimi Hendrix bleaching the stars and stripes. That’s the magnitude of Bob Dylan’s upcoming gig at the Vieilles Charrues (Old Ploughs) Festival, and you’ll be able to hear the applause well outside Carhaix. Born in 1941, Robert Zimmerman has just kicked off his own seventies, and that’s fine, because it’s a time that we’re drawn back to. The sixties, even, when this descendant of Jewish European immigrants decided to take up arms to keep the peace. Like a Rolling Stone, All Along the Watchtower, Blowin’ in the Wind, The Times They Are A-changin’… No point in trying to rework a career that has already extended over a half-century. Let’s just say that  the pacific warrior still has wind in his sails. Don’t forget your shades. The sun is sure to show up.
